Romans 12:3 KJV
3 “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
Romans 12:6 KJV
16 “Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.”
Romans 15:6 KJV
6 “That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
I was listening to a song that directly addresses these verses, but I believe that there is a revelatory message behind this, though the message in the verse can be clearly seen.
As I was reading this, I think the Holy Spirit was leading me to talk about unity. As a church, there is an importance of being together as one. Various verses highlight unity, such as the Jesus and Abba Father are one (John 10:30). Jesus praying that we the church are one as He and Father are one (John 17:11).
The LORD desires us to be one since He prayed that we be one. But one of the things that brings division among the church is pride, in the sense that we compare ourselves, either thinking of ourselves highly than others or we just don’t serve others as we should.
**May GOD, in His abundant Mercy, give us His abundant grace, wisdom, and knowledge to do so. **
Know that pride is an abomination to the LORD, meaning he hates it. He hates that people think so highly of themselves when in all seriousness, they are not. We all come from GOD. Everything we have comes from GOD.
Our positions, calling, gifts, and abilities, come from GOD, so you have no right to make yourself or identify yourself as better than others. GOD, through our LORD Jesus Christ, saved us all, both Jews and Gentiles, so NO ONE has the right or say to think they are better than anyone.
It would be foolish to think you are better than anyone when we all came from the same dirt.
The WORD says that we’ve been given special grace to serve another as a body of Christ, for GOD’s will, plan, and purpose to be done. But whatever graces you have, do not compare your graces to theirs, because it is uniquely been given to you. Either way, the only one we should look to and even ask how to use this special grace is the GREAT I AM.
And for those on the other side, know that GOD created us uniquely, so you do not have to compare yourself to others. Let’s be grateful, and thankful, and give ALL praises to GOD for what others have and what we have because it is only through HIM that He amplifies what He has put in us.
So no one is better than anybody. We are still GOD’s sheep. There’s no one sheep better than the other. Different functions, but the same pasture, Shepherd’s pasture. The last shall be first and the first shall be last. We are all serving each other and doing GOD’s will for His sole purpose.
The WORD says to love another, not to love one another because of your position, how you look, or your living status! Even if you know more of the bible, if you went to a Christian school or theological school than most, good for you, but the WORD says this: oh the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of GOD (Romans 11:33): GOD continues and will forever know more than us. He is the GOD of the Universe after all!
Remember, GOD exalts those who humble themselves and He humbles those who exalts themselves (Luke 14:11).
Let’s not think that we are better than one another, especially in the body of Christ. We are the body of Christ; different body parts but we must function together.
Let our thoughts be on how we can help and serve one another by way of serving GOD. When we love others, it shows we love GOD. GOD loved us first, so we must have this same love for others. We could serve each other in various ways, from prayers to being helpers, and may GOD surely help us with that. May you ask GOD what special grace He has given you to support and encourage the body of Christ, and use that to serve the Church.
Do you know who is the greatest in the kingdom of GOD? One who is like a child (Mathew 18:1-5).
I would also urge you to read the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard in Matthew 20:1-16.
One example we can learn from in the bible is from the event of Aaron and Miriam (Numbers 12). The event was when Aaron and Miriam compared themselves with Moses, and the LORD GOD did not like that, to the point that the consequences of Miriam’s actions led to her having leprosy.
Let’s forsake this wickedness!
Our command is to love one another, encourage each other, and even pray for each other, therefore bringing harmony with each other, and not being conceited.
When you are in harmony, you are in a place of peace. There’s no anger, envy, and no pride! We see each other as GOD’s beloved and are serving each other.
Let us ask the LORD, in His grace, to help us serve our brothers and sisters in Christ, to remove the pride, and to serve each other, thus living in harmony.
No matter who you are, whether it is nationality, being rich, or poor, nationality…in Christ, there’s no difference, we are one, the body of Christ.
With one mind and one mouth, we are to glorify GOD and be accepting of each other as Christ accepted us.
So let us think of our elder brothers and sisters in Christ the way Christ thinks about you, in love.
Do you know that this is part of the Spiritual Growth Process?
Prayer: LORD GOD, may you give us the grace, wisdom, and knowledge to serve our brothers and sisters in Harmony, one mind and one mouth, to the praises of your glory in Jesus Christ’s name!
Here’s the music video that I was talking about in the earlier post. It’s an oldie but it is also a good way to memorize scriptures.
