“Faith comes by hearing and hearing the WORD of GOD.” Romans 10:17

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

I was reading a section of Smith Wigglesworth’s book, The Complete collection of his life teaching, and he said something that caught my attention. 

What caught my attention is what I believe that every Christians should know, remember, understand, and abide in: The WORD is the substance. 

I thought that was very deep because it opened my spiritual understanding to something: the WORD of GOD is deep, vast, and it is also complex. It is filled with various of revelations, continuously unfolding the TRUTH, His TRUTH.  We truly serve a GOD whose thoughts and ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:9). 

The WORD of GOD, when it is received by faith, the WORD carries a substance that we really need to grasp. In Romans 10:17, the WORD says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” When you hear the WORD of GOD, then comes faith. But how can one have faith in the WORD? You believe it. In Romans 4:3, the WORD says, “What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

So when you hear the WORD, you believe it, you receive the WORD by faith, then you are righteous, because you believe in GOD’s WORD, therefore making you right standing with GOD, through Christ Jesus. To clarify, you must believe in Christ Jesus first, Romans 10:9, in order to right standing with GOD. 

The WORD of GOD is the faith that is not like those that have faith in the earth. Even Jesus Christ gave peace to His disciples, His peace that was not like the world (John 14:27).

When you believe the WORD of GOD, then you will know that the WORD carries substance that can be used to decree, declare, used in prayer, and speak life into someone. The synonyms of substance is potentiality and essentiality, though none can’t define GOD’s WORD because it’s powerful, it is deep, it is pure, it is TRUTH, it is complex by the various revelations that could be found in one verse. If you know, you know. 

Do not be fooled that the WORD does not carry power, because it does. If GOD’s WORD can hold all things together, the WORD carries you and holds you as well. The universe was formed at GOD’s commands, so every aspect of your life is also formed at his command, His WORD is full of faith and substance (Hebrews 11:3). 

His WORD carries TRUTH that when you decree in faith, it is done. When you speak the life giving WORD of GOD into the atmosphere, in faith, it is done. When you speak the life giving WORD of GOD into someone’s life that carries weight, it is done. When you speak TRUTH to someone that needs washing/cleansing of the WORD, the WORD sanctifies the person. Therefore, it is done.

It takes you to believe in, receiving the WORD of GOD by faith, and putting it into action to see His WORD come alive before you.

And what’s so amazing is that the WORD cleanses you. That’s how much potent it is! It’s like purified water, but just thousands of thousands times clean! 

Ephesians 5:26, the WORD says, “that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,”

Another WORD, from John 15:3, “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.”

So let’s acknowledge that the WORD of GOD carries substance and we must use it. Let’s use the WORD of GOD as Kings and Priests and speak His WORD into the nations, our families, our lives.
