So if you know the story of the three little pigs, you should know how the story went. And I want, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, will present to you three types of houses, three types of lifestyle, three types of beliefs. I gave a bit of a similar example when I talked about the barley harvest in a post I wrote a while ago. Please go read it, place it before the LORD, and let the Holy Spirit lead you into all truth opening your mind to comprehend the scriptures.

As I mentioned before, I believe that in this season, in this time, in this day, the word BUILD is an important word to the LORD. He desires us to BUILD, not just physically, mostly specifically, spiritually. The LORD Jesus said that if we listen to His WORD and do them, then we are a house that is built on the rock. Then when the harsh weather comes, the house will still stand because it is on the WORD, the rock. The house is built with the WORD of GOD.

This is what the message is going to be about. What materials are you building your house with? And if you are building your house with a specific material, do you think that this material will withstand the storms?

1 Corinthians 3:11-13, the WORD says, “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have-Jesus Christ. Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials-gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value.”

I learned that your work unto the LORD varies: from studying the word, praying/worshipping/praising the LORD, caring for others, fighting the good fight of faith. These are all works unto the LORD. The work of the LORD is not focused on ministry per se but on the everyday things we do unto the LORD. 2 Corinthians 9:8, the WORD says, that GOD is able to make all grace abound, so that in all things, at all times, you have all that you need to abound in every good works.

So this is telling us that the type house that we build on the rock is important, because it will show the kind of value the house was made out of and how it stood firm on the rock.

Let’s begin with the first house, the house of straw.

We know that straw is not sturdy nor strong to stand for a long time. It bends, it does not protect you, and it is weak. Those who build their house with straw, respectively, are weak. They have either built their house lazily because they did not care enough to dwell in the WORD that will keep them strong, sustained, and firm in Christ.

This is the person that knows about Christ but does not know Christ.

From the look of the house, this also reveals the type of lifestyle they live. They are living a life of sin, that causes weakness. I wrote and spoke about how when the church lives in sin, the church becomes weak, like Samson became weak when he told his secret to his strength to Delilah (Judges 16) or when Joshua was defeated by Ai (Joshua 7) because of the sin in the camp. Living a sinful lifestyle makes you weak.

What you believe about the WORD will reflect on how you build your house on the rock. The house of hay has certain beliefs that is not aligned with the WORD. Though I believe they love the LORD, how they have built their house on the rock reflects on how they live by faith in the WORD. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the WORD of GOD (Romans 10:17). Faith without works is dead (James 2:26). They are not making the effort to dwell with the LORD, his WORD and making Him the very air they breathe. So they are not sustained when they encounter troubles and temptation.

So overall they are building on things that are weak and will not sustain them when hard times, persecution, schemes/assignments/attacks of the enemy comes.

As you know the story of the three little pigs, the wolf came and blew the house of hay away. This is to tell you that when trouble comes to the way of the hay house, the house of hay will not easily stand, but be blown away and will easily fall.

Let’s go to the house of sticks.

The house of sticks is a bit sturdy but it is still shaky and will eventually fall. This house of sticks is like the house that is like the seed sown among thorns, combining the WORD and world together, which makes their life unstable (Matthew 13).

Their lifestyle involves the beliefs and thoughts of the world with a mix of the WORD, rather than fully being focused and living the very WORD of GOD. Like the hay, to some extent, they are also weak. There is sin in their camp. They have not made the WORD the ultimate protection mechanism, the sustainable material that will help their house withstand the storms that will come their way. Their hearts are on the things of the world, mingling with the world while they have the WORD of GOD in them but not fully. They live in a gray area, when we are called to choose one or the other. We cannot both love GOD and mammon. We cannot choose the world and choose GOD. It’s one way or the other.

So when wolf comes and blows the house down, it is will be blown down because it is still weak and it is not sustainable. You mix the world and the WORD, you’re not going to have a house that stands.

Let’s go to the house of bricks.

The house of bricks walks in wisdom, the wisdom of the LORD. The house of bricks is like the seed that is planted in good soil, producing 30, 60, and 100 fold (Matthew 13). The house of bricks, unlike the other two, are not mixing with the world, they know Christ, and they do not live a sinful lifestyle.

Because the house is made of bricks, it is firm, it is strong, and it will stand even through the difficult times. The house of bricks will stand even when there are attempts to blow the house down. Why? Because they’ve made the WORD the very air they breathe. It is like a glue to them that when lies, attacks come, they know how to stand on the WORD.

They don’t allow the wolf to come in their house. However, the other houses, the house of hay and sticks could easily invite the wolf in because the house material was weak and was not build on the WORD. When you have the WORD in your life, there are going to be certain lies, beliefs, lifestyle, attacks, that will come your way but how you build your house will determine how easily you are affected by these blows.

But with the house of brick, built with the WORD of GOD, when He becomes the very air we breathe, we are not moved by outside blows because we have been grounded. We have built our house brick by brick, WORD of GOD by WORD of GOD.

So these are the three illustration of what the Three Little Pigs, the representation of those in the church today.

We need to be the house of bricks. We need to build our house with the WORD, the very air that we breathe.

Think about your own life. Are you building your house with hay, with sticks, or with bricks? Lay your cares before the LORD, repent, and let the house of the LORD be built with the WORD on the ROCK.
