Let’s talk about renewing the mind.

I was driving home and then I heard a song from MercyMe. This is how the song goes, particularly the chorus because I am all about the chorus.

No matter the bumpsNo matter the bruisesNo matter the scarsStill the truth isThe cross has madeThe cross has made you flawlessNo matter the hurtOr how deep the wound isNo matter the painStill the truth isThe cross has madeThe cross has made you flawless

There is one particular word(s) that I want to emphasize, which are:

Still the truth is

Still the truth is…what is the truth? The WORD of GOD. Jesus Christ. That is still the truth that stands. That is the truth we’re all supposed to stand on, meditate, and live in.

In the beginning, GOD created the heavens and the earth. And He made the heavens/earth/universe in His order, His form of things. And until now, the heaven and the earth still stand because His WORD is forever. The WORD of GOD still stands.

He is the ROCK that we’re building on.

So, still the truth, His truth, above all truth (which are lies) stands and therefore stand. There’s no other truth (which are lies) other than GOD’s truth which is our LORD Jesus Christ, for through Him, all things hold together. He knew who we were from the beginning, our destiny, our personality, the color of our hair/skin/eyes. Why? Because He founded us, as HE founded the earth.

In Jeremiah 1:5, the WORD says, NLT version: “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart, and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

Even in this verse, the LORD who founded the earth, knew all about us, and already set up for the journey that we were to embark on earth.

So still the truth is, THE WORD, is the foundation of all things.

So because it is the foundation of all things, it is also the way/truth/life we ought to live by. In Joshua 1:8, the WORD says, NLT version: “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”

We are told that GOD’s ways, which is also the foundation, the groundwork of all things, the order/form of things, is the law that stands. It is the truth that stands. Psalm 1:2-3, the WORD says this, NLT version: “But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”

We are also told that meditating on His law, day and night, keeps us to walk in His way, where anything that we do prospers, we bear fruit, and we won’t wither. Isaiah 40:31, the WORD says, NLT version: “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”

We live in a world where ideas, beliefs, have become, in a way, “truth”, when in reality it is not the truth. It is a lie. And these beliefs, what the world tells of how things should be or are, has become so ingrained in us that we forget the law of the LORD,  but “still the truth is…” the ways of the LORD sustains us. The WORD keeps us grounded.

Jesus even said, that whoever listens to His WORD and does them, is a like a man who built his house on the rock (Matthew 7:24). So the WORD is our rock, when we walk in the word, when, we do the WORD. And if you know the story, that house on the rock was sustained. The house on the rock stood. However, the house on sand, did not stand.

So a house built on sand does not stand in the midst of storms. A house built on sand cannot stand in the midst of harsh winds. A house built on sand cannot stand when harsh weather comes. It will fall down.

Paul mentions something similar, in 1 Corinthians 3:10-13, The WORD says, NLT version: “Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ. Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value.”

This shows us that if our foundation is not built on Jesus Christ, the fire will reveal the value in that foundation. Meaning, as we’re walking in the TRUTH, when test/trials/fire come, which of your foundation will fall? The sand or the ROCK?  So we can also see that the foundation, which also contains important values, what deems important according to the foundation, will show it in the works that we do.

So I have said all of this to say this:

The LORD wants us to renew our minds. Romans 12:2, the WORD says, AMP version, “And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].”

There are things in the world that the LORD does not want us to think about nor believe in. By studying and meditating on the WORD on a daily basis, will lead us to get away from the beliefs/ideas of the world and lean/abide/stand on His WORD. In this time and hour, wherever you are in your walk with the LORD, renewing your mind is important in this hour.

Renewing your mind, produces faith, and the value of that faith, will reveal itself in your work (John 3:21).

The ROCK, which is our foundation, and contains values that we need to follow, such as walking in the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and being strong in the LORD and in His mighty power (Ephesians 6:10), is valued in this time.

We need to see things differently (spiritually rather than physically) so that we live differently, not like the world lives. Jesus Christ gave His disciples a peace, that is not of this world, but His peace, that can sustain a person despite the circumstances. The WORD is our essential need, like food/water is to our bodies.

But the WORD transforms us as we constantly feed on it. So we are to constantly feed on the WORD. When you learn a skill in school, you use those skills in the workplace, right? This is the same with the WORD, as we learn/meditate/put the WORD into the practice, we are living in the WORD.

So in order for our bodies to be well and grow strong, with the right exercise, the WORD is also the food/water/exercise we need on a daily basis so that we grow spiritually mature. Also, what we physically see is not going to sustain us to trust the LORD with all our heart.

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the WORD of GOD (Romans 10:17). You also need to listen to the WORD, as you speak it, taking attention to what it says that so that you walk in it. Even our faith is different from the faith the world believes in.

So you see, the way we live in Christ, should be visibly seen different from the world, because we are renewing our mind on a daily basis. As we still live in our physical bodies, crucifying it everyday, so should we renew our minds, and only ponder/meditate on the WORD so that we spiritually see what the Holy Spirit wants us to see, rather than physically see.

So that when circumstances arise, the Holy Spirit quickens us to the WORD that will overcome that situation, casting/uprooting that mountain and casting it into the sea. We will be more attuned to the WORD more so than our bodies. And even putting our body to discipline (1 Corinthians 9:27).  We are called to live spiritually, worshiping the LORD in spirit and in truth. What our spirit does, that is connected to the Father, leading us to obey Him, the soul and the body should also follow.

Still the TRUTH is…GOD’s WORD, that stands and will continue to stand.

God Bless You and Keep You.
