GOD Disciplines His Children, Not Destroy/Punish Them

One day during my time with the LORD, He asked me this question: “Do you think I can destroy you?” I was a bit confused and surprised by that word that I thought it was the devil. I rebuked that word. Then I was asked the question again.

Now, I was a bit sensitive when the LORD said, and it even brought me a bit of hurt. It reminded me of when Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him.

So I responded with the WORD and reiterating of who I am in Christ and am a child of God. Then He answered that His people thought of that about Him. That He would destroy them.

So to give you a comforting word: God will not destroy you. If you are in Christ, confessing Him as you’re LORD and Savior, you’ve become a child of God. And now you belong to Him as He builds you up to be like Christ. You’re no longer in condemnation and you’re in His hands, meaning, nothing can you away from Him, even if you’ve made a mistake.

If you did make a mistake, confess your sins to Him, and the Father is faithful and just to forgive you and cleansing you from all unrighteousness through the blood of Jesus. Personally for me, I had to learn that as a child of God, there is a discipline or chastisement. But He will not punish you. Disciplining us, however, is a good thing.

“For the Lord disciplines and corrects those whom He loves, And He punishes every son whom He receives and welcomes [to His heart].” Hebrews 12:6 AMP

I learned that along the way because I held some false beliefs about God. The belief was if I did wrong, He would punish me. But that’s not the case. When He disciplines you, He is ordering your steps so that you can walk in His will, as you learn to get go of yours and crucifying the flesh with its desires.

“Search me [thoroughly], O God, and know my heart; Test me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.” Psalm 139:23-24 AMP

Now, we can also see this from a different view when it comes to God judging a nation, like in the days of Moses. The LORD judged Egypt, which was called the Passover (in Exodus 12 and the following chapters). But He did not touch His people because of the blood that was on the doorpost of their house. You, friend, have the blood of Jesus on you and as you are walking in the WAY. So you will not be touched if God brings judgment to the nation.

Overall, what this message is about is that GOD will not destroy His children, especially concerning judgment over a nation. He loves His children, but what is important here is that you need to walk in His ways and YOU DESIRE to walk in His Truth, righteousness and holiness. HE desires His people, His children to trust in Him, to depend on Him, to love Him.

May His Mercy and His unfailing Love be with us all.
