The next few weeks or so, and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, I’m going to do a weekly series called Reconciliation with GOD. I think this is important for the Children of GOD to recognize the LORD GOD we serve and why it is important to serve Him. He’s all that we need and I think we need to be constantly be reminded of that. The world and its ways can bring about life struggles in our beings, but when we are encouraged, strengthened, and comforted by the WORD and truly receive the WORD, our heart changes, our minds changes, and our perspective changes. This is the time to truly lean on the LORD because He alone helps us in our weakness. I hope these posts help and strengthens you to walk this narrow path that we children of GOD are called to: a path of life in Him, joy, peace, righteousness, truth, and holiness. Share this with friends, family, someone that is in need to hear of these topics.
Proverbs 4:23 (AMP), Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.
Luke 6:45 (AMP), the upright (honorable, intrinsically good) man out of the good treasure [stored] in his heart produces what is upright (honorable and inherently good), and the evil man out of the evil storehouse brings forth that which is depraved (wicked and intrinsically evil); for out of the abundance (overflow) of the heart his mouth speaks.
Deuteronomy 6:5 (AMP), And you shall love the Lord your God with all your [mind and] heart and with your entire being and with all your might.
What do you treasure in your heart? As listed above, good treasures in the heart of the upright produce good while evil treasures do not bring forth good things.
Isaiah 29:13, These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship is based on merely human rules they have been taught.
To determine if your heart produces good things, let’s first start in a quiet place. Every day, are you taking time with the LORD? Are you starting your day by talking to Him and meditating/studying/reading His WORD? The WORD says that if we abide in the WORD we produce good fruit. The effort you put in when spending time with the LORD will depend on whether you have made good fruit.
At the beginning of my journey of spending time with GOD, I also developed a way to worship GOD based on human rules. I felt like I needed to pray prayers that were good, not based on my heart, but what was based on what I thought sounded good to Him. I wanted to please Him, but I didn’t know then that I was not.
If you remember the story of Cain and Abel; Abel worshipped GOD with the best of his offering, the fat portion from some of the firstborn of his flock while Cain brought fruits of the soil, which was not accepted by the LORD. This is what the LORD said to Cain in Genesis 4:7, If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.
So even what we offer to GOD has to come from a heart position, not whatever we want to give, or what sounds good to give.
Several stories show that spending time with the LORD GOD produces fruit.
- Story of Jesus doing nothing without the Father. Jesus said in His WORD that He only watches what His Father does. He cannot do anything without the Father. And we cannot do anything without Jesus Christ, the vine. In John 14:10 the WORD says, Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing His work.
- David the King was a man after GOD’s own heart, and he even knew the heart of the LORD, wanting to build a temple for Him for the LORD, in 2 Samuel 7. Even Psalm 27:8 (NIV) mentions that the heart of David should seek GOD’s face. It did not mention his mind, nor any other part, but it was David’s heart.
When we spend time with the LORD, our hearts will be for Him. Our desires would be for Him and what He desires to do through us for His glory. There is this one thing that the LORD told me that I didn’t understand but I do now: GOD wanted me to open my heart up to Him. He wants you to open your heart to Him. God desires humble people to come before Him with open hearts, even broken ones, and their desires, and all so that we spend time with Him genuinely and raw.
GOD is not looking for someone that is already put together. He doesn’t use those people because they have harbored pride in their hearts. Remember when Samuel went to choose the next king of Israel at the house of Jesse? Samuel looked at the firstborn of Jesse, Eliab, but the LORD corrected the prophet: But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).
Do you have a pure heart? If not, the LORD wants you to be exposed during the time you spend with Him (Psalm 139:23-24), which leads me to my first point.
Exposing the heart
The importance of exposing our hearts allows the LORD in your life. And the best thing about that is, that He will never steer you wrong. He will never break your heart but wants to heal and mend it. The LORD GOD wants us to be vulnerable to Him because He wants to be vulnerable with us. As you spend time with the LORD, you will understand this.
Proverbs 16:25, The LORD detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.
When you are proud of your heart, this is that you know all there is to know about life and things. The Pharisees and Sadducees were like that and they could not receive the salvation and the kingdom of GOD. GOD wants us to be children, where we receive the LORD with all of our hearts. Those who are proud are also those who say they know better and look better than anyone else when GOD is the ONLY one who knows best. He has the one in our hands.
Matthew 11:25 says, At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, LORD of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, revealed them to little children.”
GOD wants to reveal his deep things to His children, as He did with the disciples, understanding the meaning of the parable. But the only want to do so is if we’re children, willing to receive, and we are honest, genuine, and raw with Him.
Hebrews 8:10 says, This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the LORD. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their GOD, and they will be my people.
He wants to be our GOD as we are His people. He wants to help us, strengthen us, and uphold us with His righteous right hand. He wants us to know Him and be set apart for Him so that we are His people and He is our GOD. His true worshippers will worship Him in spirit and Truth. When our heart is true to GOD, We become like Jesus Christ, growing more in the knowledge of His will. But if our hearts are not right with GOD, then we repent. This also comes with a heart posture. This brings me to my next point.
Repentance
Psalm 51:17, My sacrifice, O GOD, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, GOD, will not despise.
GOD desires a heart that is vulnerable and opened up to Him. GOD knows our hearts and will test it to see if we are faithful to HIM. GOD desires our hearts because it’s like having a conversation with someone you truly want to share your love and yourself with. With GOD, because He knows us, intimacy is built when we share our hearts with Him. I think it is safe to say that we have had our share of people that we have opened ourselves to and it came back with a broken/hurtful/painful heart. With GOD, it is none of that. And the more you spend time with Him, talking and pouring your heart to Him, you build intimacy with Him and He will reveal Himself to you.
Jeremiah 29:13-14, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the LORD, “and I will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”
Having a broken and contrite heart also is necessary for a repentant heart. GOD desires truth because He is the TRUTH. HE sanctifies with His truth, found in His WORD, Jesus Christ. So to live according to the TRUTH, if we have been living in sin and not according to the ways of the LORD, repentance is necessary to live and walk in the truth. As Christians, especially if we have not been taught certain things in the WORD from leaders, church leaders, it can lead us to live in sin.
Therefore, the importance of repentance is important because there are some teachings that we may not be aware of that are leading us to walk in a sinful life. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you any teaching that is going against the WORD, then repent and be cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ, and let the Holy Spirit lead you into all TRUTH!
I do encourage you to read the blog post about The Importance of Repentance. The Holy Spirit brought this up and I believe that is pertinent for us the church to know and walk in. I also made a book about it if you want to take a read on it.
I believe that we are in a place where there is a Babylonian system in the church that is leading the church to intermarry with idols, which is something that needs to be repented of as well. When you intermarry with an idol, you worship it. As mentioned above, there may be messages from the church leaders that may lead you to intermarry with idols, and you did not know it. May we desire the Holy Spirit so that He leads us into all TRUTH.
Intermarriage with idols
- Romans 12:2, Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what GOD’s will is- His good, pleasing and perfect will.
A heart that is filled with idols does not worship the LORD with all their hearts. In proverbs 4:23, it mentions that we need to guard our hearts. That means we guard our hearts with the WORD, the milk. And the more we drink the Milk, which is the WORD, then we will know enough to know the WORD and abstain from the ways of the world.
I wrote a blog post on Ezra 9:1-2 regarding intermarriage with idols. Even Solomon intermarried with wives and had concubines that worshipped idols, but the LORD was not pleased with HIM. Worshipping idols is saying that you are acknowledging that GOD is not the GOD of all gods. Our GOD is great and to know this is pertinent so that you abstain from idols of every sort.
Examine yourself, according to Psalm 139:23-24, and ask the LORD GOD what is in your heart that is not aligned with HIM so He may lead you in the path everlasting. Look through Romans 1:29-30 and see if, with honesty, you are walking in these ways, and if you are, repent of them and be washed by the blood of Jesus Christ, then submit to GOD, ask GOD to help you resist the devil and he shall flee away from you in agony because he is under your feet.
Check Galatians 5:22-23, and ask the Holy Spirit if you are walking in the fruit of the Spirit. Check your life. Are you spending time with the LORD? Are talking/praying to Him? Feeding your spirit with the bible? Is your heart toward others pure? Are you speaking mean words to others, with or without knowing? Inquire the LORD of this and let Him show it to you, knowing that He loves you and He desires clean hands and a pure heart.
He truly will do it.
