The next few weeks or so, and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, I’m going to do a weekly series called Reconciliation with GOD. I think this is important for the Children of GOD to recognize the LORD GOD we serve and why it is important to serve Him. He’s all that we need and I think we need to be constantly be reminded of that. The world and its ways can bring about life struggles in our beings, but when we are encouraged, strengthened, and comforted by the WORD and truly receive the WORD, our heart changes, our minds changes, and our perspective changes. This is the time to truly lean on the LORD because He alone helps us in our weakness. I hope these posts help and strengthens you to walk this narrow path that we children of GOD are called to: a path of life in Him, joy, peace, righteousness, truth, and holiness. Share this with friends, family, someone that is in need to hear of these topics.
Do you fear the LORD? I thought about this concept. When we think about the fear of the LORD, what comes to mind? Is it honor? Is it respect? Or is it being afraid? I believe that it is all three, respectively. The WORD says that we ought to love the LORD with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Deut 6:5). The WORD says we should humble ourselves before the LORD (Micah 6:8). Another WORD says that we should worship and praise the LORD because He inhabits the praises of His people and we should worship Him with awe and reverence (Psalm 22:3; Hebrews 12:28).
This shows that it is important to worship and praise the LORD, leading us to the fear of the LORD. Why is it important to fear the LORD? Let’s look at the WORD the LORD GOD said to the Israelites in Exodus 20:1-2, “And the GOD spoke all these words: ‘I am the LORD your GOD, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the Land of slavery. You shall have no gods before me.’”
What is this telling you? This first shows who GOD is and what He did: He is the LORD and He brought His people out of Egypt, therefore, they should not have other gods before Him. This shows us that GOD, In His righteousness and mercy, redeemed and saved His people from the oppression of Egypt. Because of that, He commanded that they do not have any other gods before Him. Why not? Because when they lived in Egypt, they were surrounded by idols. But when GOD came, He revealed Himself as their salvation, their only GOD, and therefore, commanded them not to have any gods before them. The Israelites came from a place where false gods were everywhere. But there is only one true GOD, and that is Elohim, that is Adonai.
Jesus Christ, the everlasting salvation, also showed Himself as the redeemer and the salvation of the world. He came on earth, walking in the will of Father, and dying for all, so that we would not be oppressed by the world. Do you see the similarity between Egypt and the world? Just as the LORD GOD delivered the Egyptian out of Egypt, the LORD and Savior Jesus Christ, delivered you and I from the oppression, the slavery, the sin of the world.
That is the reason to worship the LORD GOD in Spirit and in truth. That is the reason why we should be walking in the fear of the LORD. Fear of the LORD means to respect, reverence, and piety (devotion, adoration, worship). Think about this my Christian brothers and sisters. You lived in a world that told you that it is okay to do this or that, but in the end, it left you empty. The world tells you that it is okay to fornicate, not knowing that it does more damage to your soul than you think. The world tells you that it is okay to worship/idolize musicians or actors/actresses when in the end, they are like you and me.
The world tells you that you need to look a certain way to fit in, when all it brings out is jealousy, hating yourself, and compares yourself with others. The world tells you that it is okay to love anyone in terms of dating and marrying people of the same sex, when the WORD says that GOD is love and that male and female was the blueprint that GOD created since the beginning of the world. The world gives you all these ideas that only leave you angry, frustrated, empty, and even thinking to yourself, “is that all there is?”.
The very things that we do affect our soul more so than we know. You think that your body can be used for whatever purpose. That is what the world wants you to think. But we are a living sacrifice, for the LORD GOD to use us to reach the lost world and draw them to Jesus Christ.
Friends, this life, itself, is not all there is. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the LIFE. We have a reason to live and that is because of the LORD Jesus Christ.
And because we live through Him, we need to honor Him and love Him fully. We cannot put our feet in the world while we say that we are Christian. That is what the Israelites did. They belonged to the LORD GOD, but they made an idol to worship it, thinking that it was okay to do so. But GOD did not like that. And Moses was angry.
“When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, ‘Come, make us a gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.’” Exodus 32:1 NIV
Idol worship came from the Egyptians. They worshipped all kinds of gods. And the Israelites adapted it and grafted this idea of idol worship into their camp. When they were waiting for Moses because he was on the mountain with the LORD, they decided to make a god for themselves. This is similar to us waiting for the LORD Jesus Christ, because supposedly He’s taking too long to come, though the WORD says that GOD is patient and that He desires all to be saved (2 Peter 3:9), we cannot wait any longer and we, therefore, go back to the world, cling to the desires of our hearts and worship other things, therefore going back tot he world. The Israelites did not go back to Egypt, but they went back to their old thoughts and ways.
We need to renew our minds by feeding on the WORD and putting to death the thoughts and ideas of the world.
We are supposed to live this new life in Christ with a renewed mind. How do we do so? With the WORD. We meditate day and night, therefore, growing and walking in the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of the FATHER, the LORD Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
By meditating and studying the WORD, we therefore crucify our flesh and its desires, and we come alive in the Spirit because we are called to be true worshippers, worshipping GOD in Spirit and truth.
We need to crucify our flesh. We need to crucify the desires of our hearts, which are no longer our own because now our desires should be to walk in the truth, the sanctifying truth of the WORD. We need to come back to the new life we have in Christ Jesus. We lived a dead life before accepting Jesus Christ as our LORD and Savior.
Come back to the LORD GOD, our Father in heaven.
For example, parents ought to be respected because they’re our elders. They’ve taken care of us and brought us up. This is the same with GOD, He brought us into this world. He protected us, and provided for us through our parents and whatever ways pleased Him as we grew older. We are still here because of Him. GOD is a just GOD and His mercies endure forever. Do not go your own way. His thoughts and ways are higher than ours. He knows our tomorrow better than we can.
Walk in the will of GOD, which is revering GOD, respecting Him, fearing HIM.
