Why praising God is an important part of a Christian’s life

I don’t know about you but praising God is an integral part of my lifestyle. Now, it’s not that I do it often, which I should, but when I do, it’s awesome. Sometimes it is with music (okay, most of it is with music). Other times, it comes with a basic observation of my life and my environment that I thank God for who He is and what He has done.

If you’ve ever read Psalms, David was definitely a praiser, worshipper, and observant of God’s goodness.

One verse that comes to mind is from Psalm 122:1, which states:

I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.”

This is actually a song as well if you want to Google it. That particular verse is significant to me, mostly because it is a song. Still, secondly, I noticed that David rejoiced with those who desired to go to the house of the Lord. David REJOICED at those words. For me, that’s praise in itself.

So my question to you is this: Do you rejoice in the Lord? Do you praise Him, with or without music?

Praise, and worship, are an essential part of a Christian lifestyle because they differentiate between us and those who do not know God. And for those who do not know God, who see us praising God, truly see our reverence to God in whatever manner or fashion.

Therefore it is important to praise God daily. There are multiple reasons why praise should be an integral part of your life, even mine. I will only list three. Here are the three reasons:

It leads you to know God more.

God loves us, like a lot. Even Romans 8:38-39 states that nothing and no one can separate us from the love of God. That’s how much He truly cares for us. For one, when I deeply think about this, it nearly makes me cry. That essentially is one reason I praise God because of His love for me.

So how can praising God lead you to know Him more?

It could be through prayer, meditating on His words, and even speaking tongues. God speaks in various ways, so when you have set your praise in motion, the Lord will move you to know Him a lot deeper as well. Let the Holy Spirit move you and inspire you.

Praising does not have to be jumping up and down and shouting hallelujah unless you’re into that. It could be a simple walk in the park and admire God’s wonderful nature. It could be observing a baby’s smile and praising God for babies that make you laugh and love them oh so much.

But aren’t babies the cutest, though?

It’s so interesting how this ultimate wonderful God can create wonderful, cute babies. Minus the crying, their BMs, and just about everything that is the opposite of cute.

But let me not get into my soap bubble. Let’s continue.

It furthers your thankfulness and gratitude unto Him.

Thanking God is another form of praise. You’re acknowledging who He is as God and what He has done, not just in your life but around you. In Psalm 8, David mentions God’s majestic glory in all the earth.

David also adds on how God formed and set the moon and the stars in their place. He even states how we were made a little lower than the angels. David was definitely praising God in this one.

When you praise God, you admire Him and what He has done. The more you put praise into practice, the closer you are to being thankful and desire to know more of Him.

It will guide you to ultimate worship.

When you acknowledge God and what He has done for you, then worships come in. The Spirit takes over, and His presence surrounds you. It is a beautiful thing. This is where you and God are deeply, spiritually connected.

You can definitely be connected with God through praise, but worship is a rather intimate and personal, next-level thing. It’s like a love song between two people, but in this scene, it is you and God.

If you want an example of worship, consider Songs of Solomon. There have been several definitions of what Song of Songs entails. However, reading this book helped me truly understand God’s love for me intimately and vice versa.

When you specifically read the female part, this is definitely the deepest and most intimate way to truly worship God.

May praise and worship be your thing. He is worthy of our PRAISE and WORSHIP.
