I was reading this chapter in the Bible, Mark 8:22-26, and the Holy Spirit highlighted something to me. I did not notice this, but when I did, I wanted to share this with you.
So this story is about Jesus Christ healing a blind who lived in Bethsaida. Jesus was walking to Bethsaida, and When He came, he was met by some people who begged him to heal a blind man.
Before I continue, I wanted to give you another reference to the town or village of Bethsaida. Jesus talked about the village of Bethsaida because of their unbelief (Luke 10:13-14). Therefore, the people of that village were in a place where there was unbelief.
So, going back to this chapter, we see that Jesus Christ took the man out of Bethsaida to heal him. So why would Jesus Christ take this man out of the village? Because there was unbelief in that village. No miracles could be done there.
I could also give you another example of a man named Jairus (Luke 8:40-56), whose daughter, in the words of those who were weeping and wailing, was dead. Do you remember the people who told Jarius that his daughter was dead? However, Jesus said to them that the child was not dead but only asleep. Unfortunately, they laughed at Jesus because they did not believe Jesus’s words.
So, Do you sometimes find yourself having difficulty believing God’s Word? Maybe a promise was given by the LORD, and it’s difficult to see how He’s going to do it?
What I also got from this verse can apply to real life. Overall, the LORD wants us to have faith, but how can you receive anything from GOD if you do not have faith? That was what happened to the people of Bethsaida. They were people full of unbelief, so no miracles could be done there.
Continuing with the story, by the grace and mercy of the LORD, Jesus Christ took the blind man out of the village and started the healing process. What was very interesting about this story was the process that Jesus Christ used to heal the blind man.
The first thing Jesus did was spit in the eyes of the man, and then he put His hands on him. Isn’t that interesting? Remember that in Christ, you have life and life abundantly. So when I read this, Jesus’s life, by spitting, gave life to the man’s eyes.
And what was interesting was this question Jesus asked the man: “Do you see anything?” The blind man responded that he could see the people, but they were like trees. Then Jesus placed his eyes on the man’s eyes again, opened them, and asked the man, “Do you see anything now?” And then, the blind man could see clearly.
There was clarity. The man could now see.
Jesus spit was life, and Jesus gave him, even if it was spit, his life unto the man by spitting in his eyes and covering it with his hands.
And the thing was, all Jesus had to do to bring about the healing was to lead the blind man out of the village to receive his healing. Where it was only Jesus and the man.
Sometimes, when there is unbelief in your environment, the LORD GOD may call you to walk out of that environment, especially if you cannot see clearly what GOD is doing in your life or what GOD desires to do in your life.
Here is the warning that Jesus gave the man: “Do not go back to the village.”
Why is that important? The village was a place with unbelief and no faith, which meant that if you went back to the unbelieving town, you might catch some unbelief!
The Bible says to not conform to the pattern of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you might test and approve what the will of GOD is, His good, pleasing, and perfect will (Romans 12:2).
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2 NIV
We must have faith in the HOLY GOD to receive anything from GOD and even believe in GOD. It is impossible to please GOD without faith. Also, if you are in a place where you need something from GOD, but maybe where you are is hard to believe, whether it is by one person or multiple people, it may be good for you to give yourself space from them so that you may increase your faith and walk faithfully with GOD.
You may need to be more in the WORD to abide in HIM. Because the WORD says that when you take in the LORD, you bear much fruit (John 15:4). You can only bear good fruit when you trust in GOD and Jesus Christ (John 14:1).
So, my brother and sister in Christ, are you in unbelief? Do you need a miracle from GOD? Are you desiring something from GOD, but it’s challenging to receive it because of the environment that you’re in? Come out of there and spend time at Jesus Christ’s feet. Increase your faith by asking the Holy Spirit to lead you into all truth.
Hope this post blessed you.
