Luke 10:42/ Matthew 24:35/ Isaiah 40:8
I was reading the story of Mary and Martha, and this revelation came forth. Therefore, I wanted to share this with you and remind you that spending time in His WORD, Jesus Christ, in prayer and as you also study the bible is important for the Christian individual.
You may know the story of Mary and Martha. Mary and Martha were sisters, and Jesus came to visit them. Martha was busy preparing in the house while Mary sat at Jesus’ feet. Martha seemed frustrated at the fact that Mary was at Jesus’ feet. However, Jesus mentioned something important here that I want to highlight:
This is the verse in the NLT in Luke 10:42:
“There is the only thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will be taken away from her.”
I wondered, to be honest, what this verse meant. Then, all of a sudden, the revelation came, and I now see. I was blind, but now I see. Because ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
When you are at Jesus’ Feet, you focus on HIM rather than partaking in the world’s busyness.
The difference between Mary and Martha is that Martha was focused on the material. Still, Mary focused on the spiritual, the WORD, who is Jesus.
Remember the verse in John 1:1? In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with GOD, and the WORD was GOD.
Jesus Christ is the WORD. So, for Mary, being at the WORD’s feet was something, as Jesus said, that will never be taken away from her.
“Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.” Matthew 24:35 NLT
So the revelation I got was this, because Jesus Christ is the WORD, and because you have received the WORD as LORD and savior, He shall never be taken away from you when you abide in HIM. Only in HIM can you bear good fruit.
Because let’s remember what the WORD said in John 10:28-30:
I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.
So, as you can see, when you have Jesus Christ as LORD and Savior and continually abide in HIM, sitting at His feet, this practice, even the WORD you allow to transform you in renewing your mind, will never be taken away from you.
So what did Mary do right? Being at the feet of the WORD. She listened to the WORD and received His truth. We should also be doing this with the WORD: studying the WORD, reading the WORD, which is also hearing it in a sense, and receiving truth.
Sanctify them with your truth; your word is truth (John 17:17).
And when you study the WORD, it shall never be taken away from you. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you open your understanding to comprehend the scriptures if you have difficulty understanding the WORD. Jesus Christ opened the disciples’ understanding so they could understand the scriptures of what was said about the prophecy of Jesus (Luke 24:45).
When you continually read the WORD, you are changed and have a renewed mind. It is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12).
Even in revelation, when John spoke of Jesus Christ, he had a sharp two-edged sword coming out of His mouth (Revelation 1:16).
So, spending time with Jesus Christ matters. Sitting at the feet of the WORD matters. Being in the WORD matters. Because He will never be taken away from you.
“The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our GOD stands forever.” Isaiah 40:8 NLT
I hope this post blessed you.
