If you know the story of David, you probably know how David defeated Goliath with a smooth stone and a slingshot. But I want to give you a perspective, a revelation, of this event when I was reading and studying it.

Please read 1 Samuel 17 before reading this to familiarize yourself with the story.

So, from the beginning, as you know, there was a giant, nine-foot-tall champion from the Philistine who was defying the GOD of Israel and scaring the Israelites that none wanted to fight against him since he taunted them daily.

David, who was anointed in the earlier chapter by Samuel to be the next king, visited his three older brothers and saw Goliath. When David saw Goliath, and was angry at the fact that this “uncircumcised philistine” would even say a word against the Almighty GOD.

So David stood up when no Israelites could stand and said he would defeat Goliath. Saul hears of this, talks with David, and tries to stop him from going against the giant. But David does not budge.

That’s when Saul wants to give him his own armor, but one thing that caught my attention was what David did after he put on Saul’s armor. He said, “…I can’t go in there; I’m not used to them.” What did that mean? What was given to him, the armor that belong to someone else, could not fit him, but what he had was enough.

That was what David had, which later on in verse mentioned a staff, a slingshot, and five smooth stones, what he carried before the giant.

So when I read this, I may think of another bible event in 2 Kings 4:1-7, about the widow’s oil. You see, GOD will use what you have, no matter how small, and he will do the impossible.

Compared to Goliath, David had no armor but just these three things I mentioned earlier. In the event of the widow’s oil, she only had one vase or so of oil, and GOD multiplied it.

With David, he used a stone and a slingshot, which was enough for GOD to aim it at the giant’s forehead. Who knew? When you think you do not have enough or have a situation before you and the little you have is what you have, give it to GOD, and He will do the impossible.

He used a stone to defeat defeat a giant. He multiplied the widow’s oil.

Isn’t GOD perfect? He is a big GOD who does not need anything big enough but just our faith in HIM and the little we have!

I could talk about stories like Gideon (Judges 6 & 7) or when Jesus Christ multiplied the five loaves of bread and two fished. GOD can definitely use anything and do the impossible!

TO GOD be the glory and to the Lamb!

So the next time you might be in a situation where all you have is what you have, give it to GOD and let HIM do the impossible!

He’s El Shaddai, after all.

Until Next Time, Have a blessed day!

Here’s a music video that speaks directly to what I am saying. You can also download this song on iTunes, which I currently have.
