I listened to a podcast, and the host spoke about letting go of what GOD gave him. And one thing that I believe he said, along the lines of” it was never mine in the first place.”
This made me think about the life that we live. This made me consider our comfort and what we have acquired: husbands, wives, and children, homes, and businesses.
If GOD suddenly told you to give that all away, would you give it? This makes me think of the wealthy young man in Matthew 19 who asked Jesus Christ what He must do to inherit eternal life. The young man followed the commandments, but one thing he lacked; Jesus said, “If you would be perfect, go and sell what you possess to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven, and come and follow me.” (Matthew 19:21). Upon hearing this, the young man went away sorrowful because he had great possession.
As you can see, The LORD was giving him a way to perfect and follow Him, because He is all we need. But the young man had a hard time doing that because of what he carried in his heart, his possession.
It made me think of what I have obtained and will receive in the future. Does holding on to something better than following GOD? Is possession, whatever it may be, is it better than obtaining eternal life? Is it better to gain the whole wide world and lose your soul?
I do not know about you, but I do not want that. The world is not all that to gain when GOD is the one that can take it ALL away.
Even for myself, I pray that we sit still, be silent, and know that GOD is GOD, and He will be acknowledged and exalted.
The Bible says in Proverbs 4:23 AMP, ” Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.” So we must watch what we place in our hearts because we want our hearts to spring life, not pollution. Like the tongue has the power of life and death, what we keep in our hearts is also essential.
So we must love GOD with all our hearts, minds, souls, and strength so that we may continuously flow the spring of life out of us (Deuteronomy 6:5). And Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life, says, “Whoever believes in me, as the scripture has said, “Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ “ (John 7:38 ESV)
So through Jesus Christ, our LORD and Savior, the bread of life, by having faith in Him, we shall flow rivers of living water, eternal life.
And to do that, we must not hold on to things GOD has given us unless we petition GOD, but that’s another post for a later time.
So if there is something that you are holding on to, including myself, that you are holding in your heart, an idol, confess, repent, reject it, plead the blood to cleanse you from all sins and unrighteousness, and let Jesus Christ be the center of your heart.
I hope this post blessed you.
