What is your foundation built on? What foundation are you grounded on? I was reading Luke 6:48 and it led me to further meditate on the verse. In the previous verse, verse 47, Jesus said, “As for everyone who hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like.” Then verse 48 says,

“They are are like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could shake it, because it was well built.”

So when I read this, I realized the importance to build our foundation on the WORD. It is not merely reading or listening to it, but putting it into practice, which requires faith. Because if you are reading the WORD and putting it into practice, you have faith in the one who wrote the WORD.

So when hardship/problems or storms come, you are not shaken because faith in His WORD are set in your heart, mind, and soul! You are not moved because you are secured and rooted in His WORD as your foundation in your heart.

And because you rooted in His WORD, you are living in the faith of His WORD. His WORD hold promises, love, mercy, protection, instructions, truth, and even correction, and rebuke. But His WORD is holy and good. In Psalm 119:9, the psalmist says,

“How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your WORD.”

Throughout the bible, Abba Father God, our LORD GOD, tells us to keep His WORD and Jesus, Luke 6:47, is reiterating His WORD.

So my question for you is this: What is your foundation on? Is it is based on beliefs and values of His WORD? Your own thoughts and beliefs? Or is your foundation build on the living and active WORD of GOD? When things happen in your life, are you learning on your own understanding or is the WORD that you laid is your foundation?
