I was reading Mark 4, in the AMPC translation, regarding the sower and seeds, which fell in a couple of places. I quickly paid attention to the seed that fell on the thorn, which Jesus Christ described as the superficial and cares of this world. These shallow cares are considered, as a parable, thorns.
Compared to the other places where the seeds fell, those that fell on the thorns are more dangerous. They’re pointy and can pierce you and eventually make you bleed. No one would want that.
Therefore, it makes me question how we generally receive the word of God. Do we accept it like the seed on good soil, or are we concerned about the cares of the world that are only not the surface? Do we mix the concerns of the world with the WORD of God? What value does the maintenance of this world provide when our Father in heaven knows what we need and will supply it?
And I am not talking about the superficial things, though God can do, that should not matter when the Kingdom of God is at hand. First and foremost, God desires our hearts to seek HIM in Spirit and TRUTH. Not with our Louis Vuitton or BMW, though these are nice (and I don’t mind them, to be honest).
They are not Kingdom significant. If He sent His own Son on earth to die for us, who are merely dust and flowers of the field, how much more will God provide for us if our concerns are solely to seek HIS Kingdom?
I have yet to mature in understanding fully; just putting my thoughts here. I hope this is a revelation. But as Christians, we are learning to grow as disciples of Christ. If you have read this chapter, what are your takeaways from it?
I am encouraging you and myself not to worry but continue to be thankful for His lovingkindness that is continuously flowing in your life.
