living the great faith

Recently, primarily last year, I was thinking about faith. My family and I gathered for our Bible study and went over Hebrews 11.

We all know Hebrews 11:1 says faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Then we know, along the chapter, there are examples of faithful people God credited as righteous. Abraham, Abel, and Noah, to name a few.

As we were talking about it, it made me think about God and faith. By faith, God spoke things into existence. He spoke BIG things into existence: heaven and earth, animals, and even us humans.

How big is this faith???

I mean, think about it. Let’s think about Abraham. God told Abraham to leave his family and move forward to a place God had planned for him. God even intended that He would become a father of many nations.

You had to have strong faith to stand by this prophecy. I mean, you had to trust and believe that what God said would come to pass.

But let’s think about this: Faith is powerful. It unveils incredible things we can’t imagine, especially when God speaks it, and you believe it in return. Remember, without faith, it is impossible to please God because God is the God of faith! There are a lot of attributes to God. He’s our protector, our provider; He’s holy, He’s just, He’s righteous, and so many more. And He is faithful.

God was faithful enough to destroy the world during the days of Noah but made a covenant right after by setting a rainbow in its place.

I’m saying that God is faithful in doing the right thing as much as the good things. In the end, it is for His will. And may He be praised, exalted, and glorified for it. He deserves it.

God is powerful; His faith is powerful too. So when He says in His words that He will never leave or forsake you, He is faithful at His WORD. But this can only come to pass if you are faithful as well. That means that our faith holds weight as well!

By faith, we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior. By faith, we walk in authority, given by our Jesus Christ, to trample over snakes and scorpions and overcome all power of the enemy, and nothing will harm you! By faith, we receive the Holy Spirit. By faith, we believe the WORD of God not just to be stories and history but REALLY alive and active, meant to teach, rebuke, and train us in righteousness so that we are equipped for every good work.

Faith, along with our good works (the plan/purpose God has for each of us), leads us to accomplish the purpose of God.

So faith is not something to take lightly. It is something you should put into practice every day because it is demanded. God requires it.

Here’s something else to consider; Abel was credited as righteous because of his faith. And it made me think, why would he be righteous? Well, I felt the offering he placed before God, and God accepted his offering. It made me feel that his faith made him think of God significantly, that when he brought an offering that he believed would bless God, God accepted it. There was consideration done in this.

Faith in Christ begat healing because His stripes heal us. Faith begat prosperity because the LORD delights in the prosperity of His servants. Faith begat peace because the peace which surpasses our understanding guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

So, this is my question for you and me: Why don’t we constantly develop this faith? We’ve been given a certain amount of faith and the measure we use; more will be given to us. Jesus even mentioned that even with the faith of mustard seed, we could tell the mountain to be removed and cast down to the sea.

“Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the WORD of God.” Romans 10:17

And do you know how big a mustard seed is when it grows into a tree??? Google it, and you’ll be amazed. Our faith can be developed and grow if and if only we constantly trust God and meditate on His WORD. Remember, Jesus Christ is the author and perfecter of our faith, so He perfects our faith. We need to take that step of trust and let God do the rest.

So walking by faith is not just essential but critical. As mentioned, it is impossible to please God if we don’t live by faith. We walk by faith, not by sight. Do you know how long Abraham had to wait for his son to come so that He could become the father of many nations? Do you know how long Noah took to make that ark, and by faith??

I’m learning about faith as well. For me, I have faith. Faith in God. Trust in His promises. I mean, there have been things occurring in my life that have increased my faith in God a bit more. But I must come up higher. And I will. It is needed.

And I’m learning to build this faith by continuously standing in my authority and walking towards my promise, even if I don’t see it.

Stand in faith. Walk in your promise. Let the LORD see you through.

I hope this post blessed you.

Until next time.
